Wolf-Moose Foundation Photo Contest Rules

Eligibility

  • Photos must be taken on or related to Isle Royale.

  • You may submit up to three photos, but only one photo per entrant may receive an award.

  • Entries must be submitted through the official online submission portal before the contest deadline.

Photo Requirements

  • You must be the photographer and hold full copyright to each submitted image.

  • Photos must not infringe on the rights of any person or organization.

  • Minor adjustments (cropping, exposure, color correction, etc.) are acceptable, but images should not be heavily manipulated by adding, removing, reversing, or significantly altering subjects.

Use of Submitted Photos

Photographers retain copyright to their images. By entering the contest and accepting the Photo Contest Release, you grant the Wolf-Moose Foundation a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use submitted photographs for mission-related purposes, including education, publications, fundraising, social media, and promotional materials.

Judging

Entries will be evaluated by Wolf-Moose Foundation Board members, with winners announced by September 30, 2026. A separate People's Choice Award will be selected through public voting on social media.

Photos will be judged on:

  • Overall quality and composition

  • Visual impact

  • Creativity

  • Connection to Isle Royale

  • Photo description (1 to 3 sentences)

All judging decisions are final.

Photographer Categories

Choose one category for your submission:

Professional

  • Earn income from photography through services, licensing, publications, or print sales.

Novice / Enthusiast

  • Do not earn income from photography and are learning or pursuing photography as a hobby.

Youth (16 & Under)

Submission Checklist

When you click the Submit Photos button below, you will be taken to the upload portal. After selecting your image, a pop-up window will appear where you will provide the following information for each photo:

  • Photographer's name

  • Email address

  • Photographer category

  • Photo title

  • Photo file named: LastnameFirstname_Photo#.jpg (or .png)

  • A 1 to 3 sentence photo description

Youth entrants must also upload a completed Parent/Guardian Consent Form.

The Wolf-Moose Foundation reserves the right to disqualify entries that do not comply with these rules or are deemed inappropriate. The contest is void where prohibited by law.
